Tower awaits final tests as Central Plant nears completion

The $181 million project to revamp the Central Plant in Sacramento, Calif., is nearing completion. Expected to be open in September, the plant provides heat and air conditioning through underground pipes to state buildings in the city. The tower is expected to earn a gold certification from Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, according to Joel Griffith, director of the project for California's Department of General Services.
