Honolulu Star-Advertiser erects a variable-fee pay wall

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser has begun charging for digital access to its website. Print subscribers will continue to enjoy Web content for free, while an "all-access" package -- which includes the newspaper, online content and archives, and an electronic replica of the printed newspaper -- will cost $19.95 per month. The price of digital-only access will vary based on the location of the subscriber, with the cost decreasing the farther away from Honolulu they are.
