School-voucher program is focus of legal challenge in Colo.

A district court in Denver is hearing a case over the legality of the Douglas County School District's pilot voucher program that allows students to attend private -- and sometimes religious -- schools using public money. The American Civil Liberties Union and other groups contend the program violates the state's Constitution. However, the mother of a student with autism said the voucher program would allow her son to attend a specialized school that she could not otherwise afford.
