Type 2 diabetes raises birth complications, study finds

Women with type 2 diabetes were more likely to suffer from preeclampsia, fetal anomaly and other birth complications compared with women of the same body mass index who did not have the disease, a study in the Journal of Maternal-Fetal and Neonatal Medicine found. The findings indicate that diabetes and obesity independently raise the odds of pregnancy complications, a researcher said.
