Veterinarian offers tips to keep small pets safe from predators

A small dog had to be euthanized after an attack by a wild animal in Bethany, Conn., on Friday, prompting veterinarian Kimberly McClure Brinton to advise pet owners to take special care with their companion animals so they don't become prey to coyotes, bobcats and other wild predators. Dr. McClure Brinton advises owners to keep cats inside, never leave small dogs outside unattended and always keep them on a leash when taking them out.
