British Airways and American Airlines near deal

British Airways and American Airlines are nearing a deal in which the two carriers can form an alliance to manage trans-Atlantic flights as a single company. Antitrust laws prevent a full merger of the two airlines, but the deal would allow them to share capacity and schedules. British Airways is also discussing a similar proposal with Spain's Iberia SA.
