ECB expected to maintain interest rate at record-low 1%

The European Central Bank is expected to keep its benchmark interest rate at 1% when it convenes Thursday, but it is not expected to end its monetary-easing measures, as other central banks have done. Jean-Claude Trichet, president of the ECB, has indicated that the central bank is beginning to consider how to unwind emergency measures implemented to battle the financial crisis.
