FDIC to finalize guidance on private-equity investment in banks

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. might reduce its proposal for the Tier 1 leverage ratio from 15% to about 10% required for troubled banks to be purchased by a private-equity firm. The agency is expected to finalize soon its guidelines for private-equity investment in banks. Sources said a delay in issuing the guidelines has created uncertainty in the market and stalled deals.
