Chicken ordinance in Seattle gains preliminary approval

A City Council committee in Seattle approved an ordinance that would facilitate urban farming in the area. The measure, which will go through a full council vote on Aug. 16, would increase from three to eight the number of chickens allowed per house, but it also would ban area residents from raising roosters.
