FDIC seeks proposals from underwriters for CMBS issues

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. is getting ready to package loans from failed banks and sell them as commercial mortgage-backed securities, according to an FDIC document. A request for proposal from the regulator gives securities dealers until Aug. 20 to submit plans for securitizing commercial mortgages held by the agency. The FDIC already started securitizing home loans from portfolios of failed banks.
