More workers accept reduced wages

State and local governments -- and even some private businesses -- are cutting worker pay as a way to avoid layoffs. "Workers, of course, do not like to have their pay cut, but I think that workers' major concern now is, 'Do I have a job?' If the unemployment rate were lower, we'd see a lot more resentment toward pay cuts," says David Lewin, a professor of management at the University of California, Los Angeles.
