MR spectroscopy with MRI helps pinpoint return of prostate cancer

Adding magnetic resonance spectroscopy to T2-weighted MRI greatly improved the accuracy of the latter method in diagnosing recurrent prostate cancer after external-beam radiation therapy, researchers said. The added data provided by MR spectroscopy could help physicians determine the patients who would benefit from targeted prostateside biopsies, the researchers also said.
