Subway founder: "We need to maintain our lead"

Subway President Fred DeLuca, who founded the sandwich franchise 45 years ago, believes the U.S. has room for 5,000 to 7,000 more outlets. He said the recent addition of breakfast items is part of a broader push to add snacking and dinner demand, and noted the franchise enjoys "a lot of credibility on the nutrition and fresh-food fronts."
