Initial unemployment claims in U.S. fall slightly

First-time claims for U.S. jobless benefits fell by 1,000 to 400,000 last week, the lowest number in nearly four months, the Labor Department said. The four-week rolling average, viewed by many economists as a more reliable indicator than the volatile weekly figure, was the lowest since April.
