What is surprising is the number-one factor that employees say affects their perception of how fairly they are being rewarded: career-development opportunities, according to a study from WorldatWork. Business owners who want to retain good workers should look into adult-education programs and low-cost training such as online webinars, advises Rieva Lesonsky.
