Wellness programs help slow health insurance cost hikes

Health insurance costs for businesses continue to increase but at a slower pace, partly due to a bigger emphasis on high-deductible plans, higher employee contributions and an increased focus on wellness programs. The 2011 cost survey by the Employers' Association and Alliance for Health in Grand Rapids, Mich., found that 40% of employers have a wellness program, up from 33% in 2010, and that insurers are offering more wellness incentives and options.
