Google: Combined Jelly Bean versions of Android take the lead

The Jelly Bean versions of the Android operating system, representing the most recent releases, have finally passed combined Gingerbread versions, but the latest iteration is still relatively rare at 6.5% of the market, Google reported. Now combined use of Jelly Bean versions tops 40%. The issue of operating system fragmentation looms because "[f]or years now security researchers have listed fragmentation within the Android ecosystem as a key concern, warning it makes it next to impossible to fully secure the platform," Alastair Stevenson writes.
