Mich. proposal aims to consolidate some districts to cut costs

More details are being revealed about a plan in Michigan to consolidate some school districts under intermediate districts that supporters say would improve efficiency and cut costs. While it is unclear how much money would be saved, the proposal calls for intermediate school districts to handle transportation, food service, financial administration and more support services, which currently are being handled independently by local school districts.
