Yahoo buys Rockmelt browser to boost profile of mobile content

Yahoo has bought failed social browser Rockmelt as the Internet company pursues its strategy of acquiring technology and expertise to beef up its mobile and media platforms. "The parallels between Yahoo and Rockmelt are obvious: We share a common goal to help people discover the best personalized content from around the Web," Yahoo executives Mike Kerns and Adam Cahan said in a blog post. Separately, Yahoo today is shutting down its Astrid to-do list application.
