Ariz. grocer capitalizes on shopper demand for local

Bashas' has partnered with Local First Arizona to promote and sell a variety of local products using an "Arizona-made" end-cap display in its Scottsdale store, as consumer demand for locally-made goods increases. A national survey found that 87% of consumers include locally-sourced food as a consideration when picking a primary grocer because shoppers "want to buy from a neighbor rather than someone overseas or even in a different state," according to Cameron Proudfoot, owner of G.B. Proudfoot's Natural Body Care, which is involved with the partnership.
