Legislation seeks to stem physician shortage in rural communities

U.S. Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., has introduced legislation that would extend and eventually replace with permanent support the Teaching Health Center program. The program helps brings medical residents to rural and underserved areas for training, and the goal of the new bill is to address physician shortages in such areas.
