Will future wars be fought in space?

The Japanese military is planning to launch a military space force as part of an ongoing collaboration with the U.S. military aimed at gaining a foothold in the so-called "fourth battlefield" of space. The unit, which will draw personnel from Japan's Air Self-Defence Force, will initially be tasked with monitoring satellites for threats, including those posed by space junk.
