Carneco issues voluntary ground beef recall

Nebraska-based Carneco Foods has voluntarily recalled nearly 500,000 pounds of frozen ground beef following five cases of E. coli -- from which all people have recovered. The contaminated meat appears to have been mostly distributed to Sam's Club stores, and Carneco says there is no evidence of tainted meat produced immediately before or after the date in question; meat processing facilities are cleaned daily.
