Personality disorders, drug abuse problems affect many Americans, study says

A survey conducted by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism found more than 9% of Americans have a mood disorder, such as depression, and projected that 2% of the population may have a drug use problem. The survey found that about 20% of people with substance abuse issues also manifested some mental disorder, and health care professionals were encouraged to be aware of the possible link when treating substance abuse patients.
