Flashier, more stylized ads for Wal-Mart

The August back-to-school campaign gives ad watchers the first look at the creative inclinations of new Wal-Mart Stores chief marketing officer John Fleming. So far, the ads are a departure from the mega-retailer's earlier creative, featuring more name-brand references, more humor and fewer visuals of store interiors -- suggestive perhaps of Fleming's long tenure as a marketing executive at rival Target.
