Airline bag fees might not last the long haul

With four out of seven major airlines now charging fees to check the first bag, many analysts are wondering if the fees are here to stay, or if passengers will decamp for airlines that do not charge the fee. Southwest Airlines does not charge any fees to check bags, and the Texas-based carrier built an entire marketing campaign around that fact. Delta Airlines and Continental have also refused to charge fees for the first bag, although Delta charges $50 for a second bag.
