Gays seeking Canada asylum find "friend" in Facebook

People seeking asylum in Canada from anti-gay persecution are using personal pages and photos at gay events posted on the social networking site Facebook to help make their cases to immigration officials who may not believe they're really gay, according to this article. "Sexuality has always been very complicated and when you have to prove it as a matter of life and death you will use any resource you have available to you," said Diego Macias of Among Friends, a Toronto-based gay and lesbian refugee support group.
