Archer Daniels Midland expects higher ethanol-blend rate in 2010

Archer Daniels Midland said it expects the U.S. ethanol-blend rate to increase from 10% to 12% or more by 2010. "All of the data we've seen says that it can be safely and effectively done without adding additional infrastructure costs," CEO Patricia Woertz said. The Environmental Protection Agency is expected to decide by December whether to amend the guidelines for the ethanol blend.
