High cholesterol raises dementia risk for middle-age adults

High cholesterol in middle-age adults increases their risk of developing Alzheimer's disease or vascular dementia, according to a 40-year study of 10,000 people. Data showed those with cholesterol readings of 240 or higher had a 66% greater risk of Alzheimer's disease later in life and those with levels between 200 and 239 had a 25% greater risk.
