Novartis ships flu vaccine Fluvirin ahead of schedule

Novartis began shipping its seasonal flu vaccine Fluvirin to the U.S. so health officials can begin vaccination campaigns weeks ahead of schedule. "With the A(H1N1) influenza pandemic under way, it is important that we take every possible precaution to help protect U.S. citizens from all circulating strains of influenza," said Andrin Oswald, CEO of Novartis Vaccines and Diagnostics. The company on Tuesday also said that it has initiated a human trial on its investigational swine flu vaccines.
