Endocrine group in Florida moves to label obesity as disease

The Northeast Florida Endocrine and Diabetes Associates wants to label obesity as a disease, rather than as an epidemic, following a declaration from The American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists. Recognizing obesity as a disease hinges on previous beliefs that it may stem from hormonal and genetic defects in addition to a sedentary lifestyle, experts said.
