La. officials still oppose feds' levee-armoring proposal

Louisiana's Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority and New Orleans-area officials continue to oppose a proposal by the Army Corps of Engineers to armor New Orleans' levees with turf and grass as a means of protecting the structures from erosion during a hurricane surge. The state's levee officials prefer the construction of new walls on top of the levees to block floodwaters from eroding the back of the structures.
