The large-scale net-zero building becomes a reality

The National Renewable Energy Laboratory's recently opened, 222,000-square-foot Research Support Facility in Golden, Colo., has demonstrated that large office buildings with many occupants can produce more energy than they use, according to this article. The building utilizes a sensor system that helps ensure net-zero energy usage is maintained and is designed so that a sunlight is able to fill most of the building's lighting needs during the day.
