Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba is stepping up its efforts to combat counterfeit goods as it prepares to go public, after working for several years to clamp down on fakes on its Taobao retail site and setting strict rules for the name-brand storefronts on Tmall. "The Internet is not a place that generates [piracy] problems, but it's a place that exposes the problems," said Group Vice President Brian Li.
