Better electronic control units make for quicker car repairs

Higher quality semiconductor production methods have opened the way for more precise electronic control units in cars that should make for quicker repairs, writes David Manners. The DIANA research project in Germany aims to deploy these improved ECUs, which can detect developing problems at an early stage due to their ability to continuously gather self-diagnostic data.
