Dietitian: Low-carb diet can be healthy for diabetes patients

Low-carbohydrate diets may help diabetes patients lose weight and control blood glucose levels, with study data suggesting the higher fat content may not be a big problem and that such plans may be safely continued for more than a year, registered dietitian Aglaée Jacob writes. A low-carb diet could include a protein at each meal, nonstarchy vegetables and healthy fats from olive oil, avocado, nuts and cheese, Jacob writes.
