Diplomatic efforts stepped up as Egyptian protests continue

Western countries stepped up diplomacy efforts to reach a resolution in Egypt as backers of deposed President Mohammed Morsi demonstrated for his reinstatement. Egyptian Gen. Abdel Fatah al-Sisi said Morsi's ouster was an act of "a free people who rebelled against an unjust political rule."
