Educators offer tips to help navigate the middle-school transition

First-year middle-school students will need additional support to help them stay organized as they transition to keeping track of work for multiple teachers instead of one, middle-school counselor Michelle Sutherlin says. She suggests parents take time to show students how to use folders to organize their work. "Don't hand your child a folder and tell them to stay organized. They don't know how to do that," she said.
