Facebook hires Motorola's Gary Briggs as its first CMO

Facebook has tapped Gary Briggs to be the social network's first chief marketing officer as it increases marketing efforts for products, adds more application advertisements and improves its marketing platform. Briggs was the head of marketing at Motorola Mobility when Google purchased the device-maker, and more recently he advised Motorola CEO Dennis Woodside and CMO Bill Morgan on company branding.
