IOM: U.S. lags behind other nations in anti-obesity efforts

The U.S. is falling behind other countries in assessing and choosing the best initiatives to reduce the rising obesity rates in young and old Americans alike, according to a report by the Institute of Medicine. The report indicated that "more systemic and routine evaluations" may gauge the success of anti-obesity programs and highlighted the need for an obesity task force to lead and manage the implementation of any national obesity initiatives.
