Md. school district restricts operation of vending machines

Montgomery County Public Schools in Rockville, Md., will keep school vending machines turned off for 30 minutes after the last class of the day. Currently, the machines are turned on immediately after the last bell rings each day. The policy change applies to vending machines that carry food not in compliance with the district's wellness standards.
