Changing the way Social Security pays out benefits, specifically by providing smaller payments earlier in retirement and gradually increasing them, could save the faltering system, Robert Cherenson writes. "The highest benefit amounts will be delayed and fewer people will collect the highest level of benefits because some won't live that long," he writes. "Those who live a very long life will be more secure."
