Heavy drinking in pregnancy may affect child's long-term brain development

Research published in the journal Cerebral Cortex showed reduced brain activity during visuo-spatial attention in children with fetal alcohol spectrum disorder compared with peers without the condition. The findings suggest that prenatal alcohol consumption may have long-term effects on brain development.
