Store traffic continues to decline in the U.S. and is reducing the number of store openings and locations as more users turn to PCs for purchases. In-store visits fell 7% in June and 5% in July, according to ShopperTrak. The trend is hurting major brands, pushing Sears to close 12% of stores over three years and Staples to say that stores must "earn the right" to stay in business.
