Detroit to choose system of school governance this fall

Thanks to a compromise approved by the state legislature Wednesday, Detroit voters will decide this November whether to have a fully-empowered, elected school board or give Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick control over hiring the school superintendent. The mayor hopes to drum up business and community support to help him educate the citizens about a "very, very complicated issue" in just 90 days.
