Statins recommended for some children as young as 8

Dutch researchers recommend statins be given to children as young as 8 years old to reduce their risk of heart disease. But the doctors suggested statins for that age group be limited to children with the genetic condition called familial hypercholesterolemia, which increases LDL levels beginning at birth.
