Data inconclusive on efficacy of combo vaccines for infants

Researchers who analyzed 18 studies including more than 10,000 children said it is still not clear whether giving infants a combination vaccine for diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis, hepatitis B and Haemophilus influenzae type B protects as well as separate DTP-HBV and HIB inoculations. The advantages of combined vaccines include fewer trips to the doctor, fewer shots, and potentially better compliance and cost-savings.
