Duke Energy applies for $200M for smart grid project

Duke Energy Corp. has applied for $200 million in federal stimulus funds to update an electrical grid to a "smart grid" in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky. The N.C.-based utility said the plan is the largest smart grid project in the country. The Energy Department will award $4.5 billion in smart grid grants.
