Stimulus plan to create 12,500 Minnesota construction jobs

The federal stimulus plan is on track to create 12,500 transportation construction jobs in Minnesota over its two-year duration, according to a report prepared by state and federal officials. The state's Department of Transportation will spend $350 million of the $502 million in transportation stimulus funds it will receive on road and bridge projects. So far, it has signed contracts for 54 construction projects worth a total of $275 million.
