Australians flock to store brands

Australian consumers increasingly are seeking lower-priced store brands that match name brands on quality, according to a new report from IbisWorld. The country's supermarkets now see almost a quarter of their sales from private-label products, and the number rises dramatically in some categories including dairy products. To meet the demand, chain stores including Woolworths and Coles are adding to their private-label lineups with new wine and beer offerings.
